IRVINE – Police are searching for a man who they say robbed an illegal medical marijuana dispensary at gunpoint, getting away with $200 in cash and $150 worth of marijuana.
The robbery took place just before 1 p.m. on Friday, when the robber walked into the business in the 17100 block of Von Karman and pointed a handgun at the front counter employee, demanding money and product, Irvine Police Lt. John Hare said.
The employee complied, Hare said, and the suspect left before police arrived.
The suspect was described as an African American man in his late 20s, about 5'8" tall and 180 pounds, wearing a red jacket and jeans.
The dispensary itself could also face repercussions if police determine it was indeed operating illegally, Hare said.
Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Detective Andreozzi at 949-724-7082.
